Who we are
Martin & Strain are the successor firm to Evan R Davies & Davies, which was a solicitors’ practice set up at the turn of the century at its present office in Pwllheli. There have been a number of changes and developments over the years including the obtaining of Legal Aid Franchises, Higher Court Rights and investment in IT Systems.

Bryn Martin
Bryn Martin qualified as a Solicitor in 1981, initially working for the Legal Department of Welsh Water Authority before setting up a practice in Pwllheli. He is married and lives in Pwllheli.

Bryn Martin specialises in Probate and Conveyancing and has dealt with all manner of land issues and the administration of complex estates.

 
Michael Strain
Michael Strain qualified in 1992, and obtained Higher Rights qualifications in 2003, allowing him to appear in the Higher Courts.

He specialises in criminal and personal injury litigation having dealt with the whole range of criminal cases from minor motoring matters to major murder enquiries.

He also deals with personal injury matters including standard whiplash injuries and major catastrophic injuries exceeding £1,000,000.00 in value.

He is married and lives in the Pwllheli area.

 
  ASSISTANT SOLICITORS
 
  Catrin Gwyn
Catrin Gwyn graduated with honours in French and Spanish at the University of Wales, Cardiff, before moving on to train as a Solicitor. Catrin deals with a wide variety of legal work, including conveyancing transactions, wills and probate. Catrin lives in Pen-y-Groes.
 
  Carys Parry
  Carys Parry obtained a joint Honours Degree in Welsh and French at Bangor University in 1991 before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1996. She worked as a Legal Adviser in the Magistrstes’ Courts in North Wales for 18 years before joining this firm in 2009. She deals with Criminal and Family Law.
 
  TRAINEE SOLICITOR
 
  Elen Hughes
 

Elen graduated with an LL.B. Honours Degree from Liverpool University before completing the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Chester. She is due to qualify as a Solicitor in January 2011.Elen deals with a variety of legal work including Personal Injury, Matrimonial, Wills and Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Landlord and Tennant.

 
  CONSULTANT AND DEPUTY CORONER
 
  Nicola Jones
  Aberystwyth Law graduate, Nicola Jones worked for a number of local Law firms before commencing a career as a Legal Advisor within the north Wales Court Service. She subsequently became a Consultant with Martin and Strain in January 2010, is a Duty Solicitor and deals with Criminal and Family Law matters. Nicola is also Deputy Coroner for North West Wales.
 
  PARALEGALS
 
  Eileen Roberts
Eileen Roberts is an assistant in the Probate Department dealing with the administration of estates. Miss Roberts has many years experience both with Evan R Davies and Davies and with the current partners, and specialises in Probate.
 
  Jeff Guile
Jeff Guile is a Litigation Support Caseworker.  Jeff served 30 years with the North Wales Police, much of which was served with the C.I.D..  Jeff now applies the benefit of his experience to defence work and is qualified to advise clients detained in the police station in respect of both minor and serious crime and is responsible for Crown Court casework.

Liz Mangham is the Legal Cashier at the office and is responsible for all account enquiries.
 
 

Sian Griffiths
Sian Griffiths is the Conveyancing Secretary and deals with the Conveyancing Department.
